LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — The family of a teenager killed in a crash with a La Crosse County Sheriff’s Department has settled a negligence claim.
County Corporation Counsel David Lange said the parents of 16-year-old Brandon Jennings will receive about $525,000 as a settlement in his death. The teen died in July 2010 in a collision with a squad car driven by former sheriff’s deputy Trisha Stratman. The deputy went through a red light at about 90 mph while responding to an emergency. A jury in November acquitted her of wrongdoing in Jennings’ death.
The La Crosse Tribune says the settlement prevents Michael and Lisa Jennings or their heirs from filing any further claims against the county in their son’s death.
