The Milwaukee County Circuit Court will shuffle judges due to the retirement of Judge Thomas Cooper on Friday. The changes will occur on Feb. 4.

In October, Cooper announced his plans not to see re-election after his current six-year term expires in August.

Until a new judge is elected this spring to fill Cooper’s vacancy, Chief Judge Jeff Kremers said the court will rotate two judges out of their current divisions.

Branch 30 Felony Court Judge Jeff Conen will take over Cooper’s civil calendar in Branch 28 and Branch 20 Judge Dennis Moroney will replace Conen.

Moroney’s branch will remain vacant until a new judge takes over on Aug. 1.

Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Mark Sanders is running unopposed for the Branch 28 seat.
