Who’s Doing What: New shareholders, partners at state’s law firms

Attorney Brian Thill has been named a shareholder at the law firm of Murphy Desmond SC, Madison.

Thill serves as counsel for both creditors and debtors in civil matters, and represents parties in all aspects of bankruptcy proceedings. He earned his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2003.

David Hase has joined Dewitt Ross & Stevens SC, Madison, in its Brookfield litigation practice group.

Hase concentrates his practice in general business litigation, securities and regulatory matters before federal and state trial and appellate courts, administrative agencies and arbitration panels. Hase earned his law degree, with Order of the Coif honors, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

• Two Habush, Habush & Rottier SC attorneys were granted board certification as civil trial specialists by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Attorneys Brenda Sunby and Theresa Laughlin both completed and received their certifications this year. They practice in the firm’s Wausau, Stevens Point and Rhinelander  offices.

Sunby and Laughlin join two other female Habush attorneys, Christine Esser in Sheboygan and Kristin Cafferty in Racine, in achieving this certification. These Habush attorneys account for four of the five female civil trial specialists that currently hold this certification in Wisconsin. A total of 21 Habush attorneys hold board certification.

• Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee, announced eight Milwaukee-based attorneys have been elected to partnership by the firm’s executive committee.

Nicole Druckrey is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group. She assists clients with a variety of litigation matters, including disputes involving allegations of unfair competition, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, allegations of fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty and contract breaches. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota.

Jeffrey LaValle is a member of the firm’s corporate services group. He practices in the areas of securities, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate law. LaValle received his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2004.

Natalie Maciolek is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group. She practices in the areas of general civil and commercial litigation, focusing on insurance recovery, professional liability, healthcare and securities matters. She received her law degree, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2004.

Nathan Mathews is a member of the firm’s corporate services group. He focuses his practice on representation of private equity, publicly-held and middle market companies and their owners and investors in acquisitions and divestitures, and in leveraged buyout transactions. He received his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2000.

Cheri McCourt is a member of the firm’s product liability practice group. She practices litigation in the areas of product liability, toxic tort and personal injury defense. She received her law degree, magna cum laude, from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2003.

Amalia Todryk is a member of the firm’s trusts & estates group. Her practice focuses on estate planning and wealth preservation strategies for individuals, small business owners and professionals. She received her law degree from Marquette University Law School in 2003.

Chad Wiener is a member of the firm’s corporate services group. His experience includes the representation of corporate clients with respect to compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and other related corporate governance requirements, the representation of public companies in connection with periodic reporting requirements, and advising clients with respect to contract and other business matters. He received his master of laws degree, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002, and his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School in 2001.

Joe Wilson is a member of the firm’s commercial litigation group. He practices in the area of energy and utility law and also advises clients with respect to complex commercial litigation. He received his law degree from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2004.
