Sheboygan mayor plans suit over Twitter account

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (AP) — The lawyer for Sheboygan Mayor Bob Ryan says he plans to file a lawsuit against a 17-year-old who set up a Twitter account posing as Ryan and redirecting the mayor’s campaign website to his own.

The Sheboygan Press reports Asher Heimermann referred to himself on the account as an “arrogant, obnoxious, incompetent fool.”

The high school senior plans to run against Ryan in a possible recall election. That effort came several weeks after Ryan, an admitted alcoholic, passed out in a tavern and got in an altercation that attracted the police.

Ryan’s attorney, Dwight Darrow, said he will seek an injunction barring Heimermann from representing himself as Ryan on Twitter or redirecting the mayor’s former campaign web address.

Heimermann said the account was satire and called the issue “a big fuss about nothing.”
