Quarles & Brady LLP announced that the firm’s Milwaukee office received the 2011 Wisconsin Organizational Philanthropy Award from the Greater Milwaukee Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals on Tuesday. The firm was nominated by the Columbia St. Mary’s Foundation.

The Wisconsin Organizational Philanthropy Award recognizes a corporation, foundation or organization with an outstanding record of philanthropic leadership in the Greater Milwaukee area.

Criteria for the award includes demonstrating a leadership role in promoting philanthropy in Greater Milwaukee, encouraging leadership and staff to participate in volunteer and/or philanthropic activities, developing innovative philanthropic programs, and exhibiting generosity in contributing and/or raising philanthropic money.

The firm also announced that John Daniels Jr., chairman of Quarles & Brady, will receive the 2012 Spirit of Excellence Award from the American Bar Association Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Legal Profession. The annual Spirit of Excellence Awards celebrate the accomplishments of lawyers who promote a more racially and ethnically diverse legal profession.

The award will be presented Feb. 4 during the 2012 ABA Midyear Meeting in New Orleans.

von Briesen & Roper SC, Milwaukee, announced that the firm has been awarded the 2011 International Legal Technology Association’s Emerging Technology Champion Award. The award was presented to William Caraher, CIO, at the ILTA annual conference in Nashville.

The award recognized the firm’s use of emerging technology in redesigning its Intranet. von Briesen assembled an innovative and “Social” Intranet using a variety of Open Source Software solutions.

New Hires

Four attorneys have joined the Milwaukee office of Gonzalez Saggio & Harlan LLP: Ronald Stadler (University of Wisconsin Law School, 1989) as a partner with the Employment and Education Law Groups; Aaron Graf (Marquette University Law School, 2008) and Suzanne Glisch (University of Wisconsin Law School, 2010) as associates with the Employment Group; and Serena Pollack (University of Denver, 2000) as a partner with the Litigation Group.

On the Move

John McCoy, McCoy Law Group SC, Waukesha, has been invited to join the Council on Litigation Management. The council is a nonpartisan alliance comprised of thousands of insurance companies, corporations, corporate counsel, litigation and risk managers, claims professionals and attorneys.

Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C., Milwaukee, announced the addition of several attorneys to its Milwaukee and Madison offices.

Benjamin Edlavitch joins the Intellectual Property Practice Group in the Milwaukee office. Edlavitch focuses his practice on patent acquisition and prosecution, including developing patent procurement and prosecution strategies, preparing due diligence assessments, and identifying licensing opportunities. He earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law

Erin Keesecker joins the Litigation Practice Group in the Madison office where she is a member of the Business and Commercial Litigation team. She received her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Benjamin Proctor joins the Litigation Practice Group in the Milwaukee office where he is a member of the Business & Commercial Litigation Team. He received his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University Law School

Marci VanAdestine joins the Finance Practice Group in the Milwaukee office where she is a member of the Consumer Financial Services Team. She received her law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
