OCONTO, Wis. (AP) — A Pulaski man convicted of killing his estranged wife and setting her house on fire has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Three of the couple’s children were in the house when Randall Staeven ignited the fire in May 2009.

They escaped unharmed. Christine Staeven’s remains were found in the house in the town of Chase.

WLUK-TV says the 52-year-old Staeven was convicted in August of first-degree intentional homicide, arson, mutilating a corpse and three counts of recklessly endangering safety. The children have been placed with relatives.
