Gov. Scott Walker is filling several judicial vacancies in the state on Friday.

Godfrey & Kahn SC attorney Nelson Phillips will fill the open Branch 17 circuit court seat in Milwaukee County.

The seat has been vacant since the retirement of Judge Francis Wasielewski at the end of July.

Prior to joining the Milwaukee office of Godfrey & Kahn, Phillips served as an assistant district attorney in Milwaukee, prosecuting criminal felonies and misdemeanors.

Walker also appointed Chippewa County District Attorney Jon Theisen to the open Branch 4 circuit court seat in Eau Claire County.

Theisen will replace Judge Benjamin Proctor, who retired earlier this year.

Walker appointed Jennifer Harper to serve as the new Richland County District Attorney.

For the last 11 years, Harper has served as an assistant district attorney in Richland, Monroe and Sauk counties.
