Worldometers is an interesting website that provides real time statistics for a variety of topics. Areas addressed include world population, government & economics, society & media, environment, food, water, energy and health. For example, at the time of this writing there have been 226,225 births today. I can’t even keep up with the running total of the number of emails sent today.
The website not only provides the figures for your review, but clearly identifies the sources they use to obtain the data. Per the website, “[s]ources are carefully selected to include only data published by the most prestigious institutions in the world, such as the United Nations, the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization, its data branch FAOstat, the OECD and others.” Additional information on the collection, accuracy, and source of data can be found on their FAQ page.
