LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) — A La Crosse County sheriff’s deputy involved in a fatal crash last summer has been fired.

County Deputy Corporation Counsel David Lange said Deputy Trisha Stratman’s dismissal follows an internal investigation into the July 2010 crash that killed 16-year-old Brandon Jennings of Onalaska.

Special prosecutors have charged Stratman with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. According to a criminal complaint, the deputy sped through a red light at about 90 mph while responding to an emergency call. Stratman’s squad collided with Jenning’s car, killing him.

Stratman has pleaded not guilty. The La Crosse Tribune says she has been on administrative leave since the crash.
