CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) — University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee point guard Kaylon Williams has been arrested in his hometown of Cedar Rapids on suspicion of drunken driving.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reported that Williams was arrested early Wednesday after police say he drove away from a traffic stop and then ran away from officers.
Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Williams was eventually tackled by a police dog but was not injured.
According to a criminal complaint, the 22-year-old Williams had a blood-alcohol content of 0.228, which is nearly three times the legal limit in Iowa.
Williams, a former prep star at Kennedy High, averaged 8.3 points a game and led the Horizon League in assists last season.
Williams was taken to the Linn County Jail.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office says they don’t have an attorney listed for Williams.
