PARK FALLS, Wis. (AP) — Federal authorities say they’ve arrested one man and are seeking four more after eradicating a large marijuana growing operation found in Wisconsin’s Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

U.S. Attorney John Vaudreuil said the man was arrested at the scene of the grow site that involved thousands of plants over a several-acre area about 25 miles northwest of Park Falls.

Approximately 175 federal, state and local law enforcement agents removed the marijuana plants and processed the site for evidence, which included a camp for the individuals who cultivated the plants and loaded firearms.

Authorities were alerted to the marijuana operation after a tip from a hunter in November.
