APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — A 34-year-old eastern Wisconsin man is charged with shooting his mother in the back of the head.
Randal George Rosenthal, who lives in the Brillion area, was charged Friday with first-degree intentional homicide in Outagamie County.
He’s accused of killing his 52-year-old mother, Kathleen Remter, of Forest Junction, while they were fishing in Buchanan on July 22. Her body was found later that day in the Fox River near Kaukauna.
The Post-Crescent reports Rosenthal’s wife, Amber, told authorities she had argued with her husband about him being unemployed the morning of the shooting.
According to the complaint, Remter took out a life insurance policy in October worth up to $500,000 for which her son was the sole beneficiary.
According to the complaint, blood on Rosenthal’s jeans matched his mother’s DNA.
