TOWN OF RICHFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Opponents of a proposed mega farm in Adams County have filed a civil lawsuit to try to stop the development.
A group called Family Farm Defenders and a homeowner filed suit in Dane County against the Department of Natural Resources. They want an administrative review of the DNR’s decision to approve the developer’s building plans. The plaintiffs say large farms are a threat to air, water and food quality.
And, they lower prices for smaller farms by flooding the market with products.
The farm’s developer, Milk Source, wants to build a farm with 4,300 cows and 250 other animals in the town of Richfield. The Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune says Milk Source also owns the Rosendale Dairy and Tidy View Dairy in Kaukauna.
