MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Supreme Court has upheld $5 million in damages for a man who claims his father and brother unfairly squeezed him out of the family’s giant beef jerky company.

The decision marks another step in a long-running court battle between Jay Link and his father, John Link, and his brother, Troy Link. Jay Link contends they pushed him out of Minong-based Link Snacks Inc. in 2005.

This segment of the dispute revolves around $5 million in damages a Wisconsin trial court ordered Jack Link to pay Jay Link. A judge reduced the amount after Jack Link filed a challenge, but an appeals court reinstated the full award, saying Jack Link filed his paperwork too late. The Supreme Court agreed.

Link Snacks is known for its “Messin’ with Sasquatch” ads.
