Former UW-Stout student not guilty in bike death

Listen to this articleHUDSON, Wis. (AP) — A former University of Wisconsin-Stout hockey player has been found not guilty in the death of a fellow student in a bicycle crash.
Twenty-three-year-old Jared Britton of Maplewood, Minn., was accused of pushing 23-year-old Bradley Simon as he was riding a bicycle in Menomonie last September, causing him to crash into a concrete wall.
The altercation followed a dispute in a bar over a sweatshirt Britton was wearing.
The Chippewa Herald reports a St. Croix County jury found Britton not guilty Friday.
Britton’s attorney had claimed Simon was drunk and his bike had no back brakes.
Twenty-one-year-old Jedediah McGlasson, of Alaska, has been charged with being party to the crimes of felony murder and battery. His trial is next month.
