The website for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System contains some very useful consumer credit information. The webpage is designed for the average consumer; however there are two items that may interest legal researchers as well.

The first is the Consumer Credit Card Agreement Search. This database allows the searcher to “look for a particular card issuer’s consumer credit card agreements.” It can be searched by issuer name or keyword (which searches the full text of the agreements). The information is updated quarterly and the date of the last update is clearly noted on the website.

Another interesting database is the Survey of Credit Card Plans. “Every six months the Federal Reserve System surveys the terms of credit card plans offered by financial institutions and publishes a report of the findings. The report includes information from the largest credit card issuers in the country as well as other financial institutions that wish to participate in the survey.”
