MILWAUKEE (AP) — A South Milwaukee woman accused of having drugs in her system at the time of a fatal crash has been charged with homicide.
Thirty-six-year-old Cathy R. Kaszuba was charged Tuesday with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle. The charge carries a maximum prison sentence of five years.
Prosecutors say Kaszuba was driving May 9 when she turned into the path of a mo-ped that had the right of way. The mo-ped rider was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the criminal complaint, a blood test found that Kaszuba had about three times the therapeutic limit of Oxycodone. A toxicologist at the Wisconsin Regional Crime Laboratory said that level would cause one to be under the influence.
Online court records didn’t list an attorney for Kaszuba on Tuesday.
