Attorney Jeffery Anderson will start his term as Polk County Circuit Court Judge earlier than anticipated due to the retirement of Judge Robert Rasmussen.

Anderson won election this spring and was set to begin his six-year term Aug. 1.

But Rasmussen’s retirement in November left the county with only one judge, Molly GaleWyrick, and on Thursday, Gov. Scott Walker appointed Anderson to the bench early to decrease the burden on the court.

According to a release from Walker’s office, processing of criminal and civil cases had slowed since Rasmussen’s departure.

Anderson previously worked as a sole practitioner in Dresser, Polk County, and graduated from Oklahoma City University Law School in 1998.
