CAMP VERDE, Ariz. (AP) – Attorneys in a self-help author’s manslaughter case are finalizing jury instructions Tuesday.

Those instructions on what the jury can and cannot consider in reaching a verdict will be read before both sides give closing arguments.

Jurors who have heard months of testimony in the trial are scheduled to return to the Camp Verde courtroom Wednesday morning.

James Arthur Ray has pleaded not guilty to three counts of manslaughter. The charges stem from a sweat lodge ceremony Ray led near Sedona in October 2009.

Milwaukee native James Shore, Liz Neuman and Kirby Brown died, 18 others were hospitalized and others emerged with no major problems.

Prosecutors contend Ray recklessly caused the deaths.

His attorneys say the deaths were a tragic accident, not a criminal act.
