Ex-corrections officer gets 18 years in assault

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — A former corrections officer convicted of sexually assaulting an inmate at a Fond du Lac women’s prison has been sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Jimmie Brown was sentenced Friday. He’ll also have to serve 18 years on extended supervision after his prison release.

A Fond du Lac County jury convicted him in February on 16 counts of sexual assault by a corrections officer.

The criminal complaint alleges the 39-year-old Brown sexually assaulted one inmate and had consensual sex with others at the Taycheedah Correctional Institution between May 2007 and April 2008.

The law prohibits sexual contact by a correctional officer with an inmate regardless of consent.
