FOND DU LAC, Wis. (AP) — A former Fond du Lac city employee has pleaded no contest to charges that he helped embezzle money from the city in a scheme that netted more than $240,000.
Ken R. Moran of Oshkosh entered the pleas Monday as part of a plea agreement. In return, prosecutors agreed to recommend a jail sentence of 3.5 years.
Charges against the 65-year-old included misconduct in public office and felony theft in a business setting.
Prosecutors say Moran and four others participated in a false invoicing scheme. Three of the others have been convicted and sentenced, while the fourth has a plea hearing scheduled for August.
Moran has paid $80,000 in restitution and has agreed to pay an additional $10,000.
A message left with his attorney after hours Tuesday was not immediately returned.
