Melrose man faces 40 felonies in sex assault case

Listen to this articleMANITOWOC, Wis. (AP) — A 40-year-old Melrose man is facing 40 felonies in Jackson and Manitowoc counties related to alleged sexual assaults of a Sheboygan-area girl for 15 years.
The man had been charged this month with 25 felonies, including second-degree sexual assault, repeated sexual assault of a child and false imprisonment.
But a complaint filed Friday charges him with 15 new charges, including 11 counts of incest, child enticement and child abuse.
The Associated Press is not naming the man to protect the identity of the victim.
Court records say the victim endured years of brutal abuse beginning at age 4, continuing through last Christmas.
The Herald Times Reporter reports that if he’s convicted of all charges he could face a maximum penalty of 900 years in prison.
