von Briesen & Roper s.c., announces that the firm is being considered for the 2011 International Legal Technology Association (ILTA) Emerging Technology Champion Awards. The project that resulted in the nomination is an open source intranet that has a similar look, feel and functionality to iGoogle called “vBDash.” Winners will be announced at ILTA’s annual conference in August.
The firm’s intranet went from a text-heavy, HTML-based, mostly static tool to a customizable intranet offering movable gadget boxes with both internal and external content for all employees. Later in 2011, vBDash will offer additional social aspects similar to a secure Twitter-like internal microblog feed where employees can post links, updates and news. Opting to use emerging tools and software rather than mainstream internet software, like Microsoft SharePoint, has saved money in licensing fees and given the firm endless options.

In a move to accommodate its growing Milwaukee area practice, the law firm Stafford Rosenbaum LLP relocated its Milwaukee office to the High Pointe Office Center, 1200 North Mayfair Road.

John Schulze Jr., Marquette 2004, was recently elected secretary of the Landmark Credit Union Board of Directors. Landmark is the second largest credit union in Wisconsin, with $1.5 billion in assets and nearly 500 employees at 18 branches throughout Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha, Washington, Dodge, Racine, Kenosha, Walworth and Jefferson Counties.

The law firm of Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC announces that attorneys Jeff McIntyre and Tom Heneghan have been named co-leaders of its Intellectual Property Litigation Team. McIntyre and Heneghan, who both practice out of the firm’s Madison office, have decades of experience handling intellectual property and related business litigation disputes.

The Intellectual Property Litigation Team brings together a diverse group of lawyers with highly credentialed technical backgrounds and experienced trial lawyers to handle the unique demands of IP litigation.

McIntyre is an experienced trial lawyer who has taken patent cases to verdict in several technical fields and has appeared in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Heneghan has tried cases all over the country in numerous district courts and has appeared before the Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.

McIntyre earned his his J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law. Heneghan earned his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.

Foley & Lardner LLP announces that Linda Benfield has been named managing partner of the firm’s Milwaukee office. Benfield succeeds Nancy Sennett, who will continue her litigation practice with Foley in Milwaukee.

Benfield has been with the firm for 22 years and in her new role, is responsible for maintaining and enhancing Foley’s strong commitment to the Milwaukee community, as well as the day-to-day logistical and financial management of the Milwaukee office, which includes more than 600 attorneys and staff.
Benfield assumed the role of Milwaukee office managing partner on May 2.

Thomas Hofbauer announces the formation of Hofbauer Law LLC.
