WAUSAU, Wis. (AP) — A judge has denied appeals for new trials from the central Wisconsin parents convicted in the death of their 11-year-old daughter.
Dale and Leilani Neumann argued their trial attorneys made errors which resulted in their 2009 convictions for reckless homicide in the death of Madeline Neumann. The Neumanns used prayer instead of conventional medicine to try to heal their daughter’s illness.
The Wausau Daily Herald reports Judge Vincent Howard ruled that hindsight can sometimes reveal room for improvements, but that in the case of the Neumanns he disagreed that their attorneys were ineffective.
The Neumanns have not yet indicated if they will appeal.
