A developer has been ordered to pay $49,447 in fines for pollution violations during construction of a residential development in Genesee, according to a news release from the state attorney general’s office.
According to a civil complaint filed against Country West Development LLC, Wauwatosa, the developer in August 2009 failed to stop pollutants from flowing into a nearby wetland and failed to implement and maintain erosion control measures, both of which violate state pollution laws.
The violations stem from a 67.4-acre development known as Field Crossings in Waukesha County, according to the release.
Country West was ordered to pay the judgment within 30 days.
The case was investigated by the Department of Natural Resources and was prosecuted by Assistant Attorney General Cynthia R. Hirsch. The case was heard by Waukesha County Circuit Court Judge Ralph M. Ramirez.
