WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) — The chairman of Waukesha County’s Democratic Party is calling for the resignation of the county clerk who botched her count of last week’s state Supreme Court race.
Party chairman Victor Weer said in a news release Tuesday that vote counting and reporting by Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus has not only produced problems, she has ignored pleas to make the process more open and technologically reliable.
Last Thursday, Nickolaus announced that she failed to save on her computer more than 14,000 votes. That flipped the unofficial winner from JoAnne Kloppenburg to incumbent David Prosser.
All Wisconsin counties are expected to certify results to the state later this week.
Nickolaus did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
