MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A Madison priest who was removed from public life in 1999 is now charged with the sexual assault of a teenage girl in Stevens Point and at her Monona home in 2003 and 2004.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports a criminal complaint filed Wednesday in Dane County Circuit Court charges 64-year-old Joseph Gibbs Clauder with felony sexual assault of a child under the age of 16.
Court records do not name a lawyer for Clauder, who does not have a listed telephone number.
According to the complaint, the victim was 14 and 15 when he allegedly fondled her. She didn’t reveal them until 2009 because she was afraid of Clauder.
Clauder was removed from public life by the Madison Diocese in 1999 because of a separate allegation of sexual misconduct involving an adult woman.
