Prosser is trying to fend off a challenge from Assistant Attorney General JoAnne Kloppenburg in the April 5 election. She has been trying to paint Prosser as an extension of the Republican Party rather than an impartial judge.
Both of them appeared at a debate Wednesday in front of the Madison Rotary Club. Prosser opened the debate by joking that Kloppenburg has had a chip implanted that tells her to repeat that he’s partisan and she’s impartial. He said people see him as an independent thinker.
Kloppenburg countered that Prosser believes his job is to maintain a conservative majority on the court.
The debate marked the third between the candidates in as many days.
