MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Democratic Party has filed a complaint alleging that Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s Statehouse meeting with a prominent GOP pollster was illegal because Walker derived political gain from it.

Walker’s spokesman Cullen Werwie confirmed the Capitol meeting with pollster Frank Lutz happened Feb. 23, the day after Walker took a call from someone he believed to be billionaire Republican donor David Koch.

The complaint filed Thursday with the state Government Accountability Board says Walker violated state law that prohibits the solicitation of political donations in state buildings and from using his elected position to seek something of value.

Werwie calls the complaint frivolous and said the meeting was legal because it was to discuss the state’s economy and not polling or anything else barred by the law.
