The Largest Law Firms survey results were compiled and/or researched by Wisconsin Law Journal’s Sarah McQuin, Associate Editor, and Jane Pribek, Editor-at-Large. We utilized an e-mail process for submitting online questionnaires. Our goal was to make it easier for firms to respond electronically and to help with compiling the significant amount of information from the surveys.

Those surveys went out to private law firms with 15 or more lawyers from a list provided by the State Bar of Wisconsin. The bar’s list was generated from its membership roll for the fiscal year 2010, which began July 1, 2010. We also sent surveys to firms that were included in last year’s Largest Law Firms section, but which didn’t make the State Bar’s list.

Our goal was to obtain information about the largest private offices.

The ranking of the firms is by total number of attorneys, including of counsel. When two or more firms had the same number of attorneys, they were listed alphabetically.

Some firms, which are marked with asterisks in the survey, declined to provide information. In those cases, we relied upon information from their Web sites.

With a few exceptions, the numbers reflect head counts as of November 2010. Every effort was made to ensure that the information provided was accurately reproduced. However, due to the rapidly changing nature of the legal profession, some of the information might have become outdated.

If your law firm has 15 or more lawyers and is not on this list, please contact Sarah McQuin at [email protected] or via phone at 414-225-1814. We’ll be sure to send a survey to your office next year.
