Judges from Milwaukee and St. Croix counties were selected to travel to The Hague this fall to participate in an international judicial conference. The group included Deputy Chief Judge Scott R. Needham, St. Croix County Circuit Court, and Judges David L. Borowski and Jeffrey A. Conen, Milwaukee County Circuit Court, along with Court of Appeals Judge Joan F. Kessler of Milwaukee.

The judges took part in the Sir Richard May International Courts Conference, named for a judge who presided in several high-profile war crimes trials at the International Criminal Tribunal at The Hague. The event was held Sept. 26-Oct. 1.

The program gave the Wisconsin judges an international perspective on civil and criminal procedure and sentencing. The group also learned about the unique challenges facing the world court, where war crimes tribunals are held.

The group attended a reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands Fay Hartog Levin at the Ambassador’s home.

Davis & Kuelthau announces that Edward J. Williams of the firm’s Oshkosh office has been presented with the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association’s (WSAA) George Tipler Award. The award is presented annually to an attorney for distinguished service in school law to Wisconsin school districts. The individual receiving the award is first nominated by school officials or member attorneys and then selected by the WSAA Board of Directors. Williams was honored at the association’s annual meeting in October.

Additionally, Williams was honored as the 2010 Outstanding Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce Volunteer. Williams received the award at the 103rd Annual Meeting and Recognition Program of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce on Nov. 1.

Williams, a shareholder in the Oshkosh office of Davis & Kuelthau, focuses his practice on labor and employment, municipal and school law. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Louisville School of Law.

Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren announces the addition of seven attorneys to the firm.

Employee Benefits: Beth A. Bulmer brings 11 years of experience to the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice, where she represents Taft-Hartley (multiemployer) pension and welfare trust funds. She most recently was a shareholder at Previant, Goldberg, Uelmen, Gratz, Miller & Brueggeman in Milwaukee.

Jessica P. Culotti and Stacie M. Ringelstetter also join the Employee Benefits Practice.

Culotti served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Frederick L. Grunke and the Hon. Paul E. Widick in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Ringelstetter graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University Law School, interned at the Wisconsin Supreme Court and was deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, and Balad Air Base, Iraq, as a member of the Wisconsin Air National Guard.

The Litigation Practice added three new attorneys: Amy L. MacArdy, Jessica L. Farley and Brittany L. Lopez.

MacArdy graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School and served as a judicial law clerk to Justice Patience D. Roggensack of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Farley graduated cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2010.

Lopez graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2010.

Business Law: Mark A. Hill served as a clerk for the Hon. Thomas Appleton of the Illinois Appellate Court before joining the firm’s Business Law Practice. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
