American Transmission Co. attorney John Schulze, Marquette 2004, presented “Identifying and Overcoming Legal Hurdles to Vegetation Management,” at the North American Transmission Forum’s Vegetation Management Workshop in Dearborn, Michigan.

Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. announces the addition of eight new associates to its Milwaukee office location.

Tristan S. Breedlove has joined the firm’s litigation practice group. Breedlove received her law degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University.

Marvin C. Bynum II is the newest member of the firm’s real estate practice group. Bynum earned his law degree, cum laude, from Marquette University.

Matthew T. Kemp has joined the firm’s environmental practice group. He earned his law degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law.

Matthew J. Kovacich is a new attorney in the firm’s corporate practice group. Kovacich received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Hamline University.

Andrew C. Landsman is the newest member of the firm’s intellectual property practice group. Landsman earned his law degree from John Marshall Law School.

Mathew R. Peterson has joined the firm’s corporate practice group. Peterson earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Joy E. Schnackenbeck has joined the firm’s environmental practice group. Schnackenbeck earned her law degree from Georgetown University.

Matthew M. Wuest is a new member of the firm’s litigation practice group. Wuest earned his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Ruder Ware announces the addition of Joshua B. Taggatz to the firm’s attorney team; he will be based in the Wausau office as a member of the Business Transactions Practice Group.

At Ruder Ware, Taggatz advises clients on a wide variety of business transactional matters, including the organization of business entities, sale and acquisition transactions, banking and securities matters, and related issues. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School.

The Association for Women Lawyers Foundation has announced the recipients of its annual awards. This year’s winners are:

Community Involvement Award: Maria E. Gonzalez Knavel, Foley & Lardner LLP ; Mentoring Award: Brenda Sunby, Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. ; Pro Bono Award: Christy Brooks, von Briesen & Roper SC (www.vonbriesen.com); Founders Award: Diane S. Diel, Diane S. Diel, SC.

Awards have been presented annually since 1992. This was the first year, however, for the Founders Award, which was given to a member who has significantly contributed to the advancement of women in the legal profession, and whose career demonstrates dedication to the highest levels of professional ethics and excellence.

The foundation has also announced the recipients of its annual scholarships. This year’s winners are: Lora Chupita of Manitowoc (Marquette University Law School); Kelly J. Glienke of South St. Paul, MN (University of Wisconsin Law School); Kathryn E. Jackan of Marshfield (Marquette University Law School) – Virginia A. Pomeroy Scholarship; Amanda Riek of West Allis (University of Wisconsin Law School) – Virginia A. Pomeroy Scholarship.

Scholarships have been awarded annually since 1997 to women who are attending a Wisconsin law school and meet criteria that include service to others, academic achievement and unique life experience or circumstance.

The awards were presented at the AWL Annual Meeting on Sept. 28.

Dan Peterson joins The Schroeder Group, S.C., Attorneys at Law as an associate attorney in the business area. Peterson graduated magna cum laude from Marquette University Law School in 2006. Prior to attending law school, Dan worked as an accountant, both auditing financial statements and preparing individual, partnership and corporate tax returns.

Quarles & Brady LLP announced that nine of its Milwaukee-based attorneys have been elected to partnership by the firm’s executive committee. The attorneys from the Milwaukee office who were elected include: Marla B. Anderson (Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation); Tyson A. Ciepluch (Corporate Services); Jack M. Cook (Intellectual Property); Bernard J. Kearney III (Acquisitions and Dispositions); Kathryn A. Kronquist (Corporate Services); Autumn M. Kruse (Labor & Employment); Elizabeth C.
