Lisa M. O’Donnell, co-chair of the Software, Technology and Licensing Team at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. and a member of the firm’s Business Law Practice, is Wisconsin’s first and only Black Duck Certified Legal Professional.

Black Duck Software developed the certification program for legal professionals who have clients interested in acquiring technology companies or are software companies preparing themselves for sale or divesture. The program trains intellectual property and mergers and acquisitions lawyers to understand the methodology of open source software audits.

O’Donnell, who is also a member of the firm’s Product Distribution and Franchise Legal Team, works with a range of local, national and international clients with a particular interest in companies engaged in the software and technology industries. She earned her J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law.

Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. welcomes Emily Friedrich as its new Public Relations Specialist and Jessica Gordon as its new Marketing & Communi-cations Assistant.

Friedrich joins Godfrey & Kahn with significant public relations and communications experience. She will be responsible for the firm’s overall public relations strategy and program management, media communications and social media program coordination.

Gordon joins the firm with experience specifically in direct mail and e-marketing. She will be responsible for production of collateral, advertisements and newsletters, as well as an assortment of other marketing activities.

Foley & Lardner LLP announces that Maria Gonzalez Knavel, a partner in the Milwaukee office, has been selected for inclusion in the inaugural class of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) and the Association of the Corporate Counsel (ACC) Executive Leadership Training Program.  Gonzalez Knavel was selected amongst an elite group of Latino attorneys to participate in this new program dedicated to providing training, resources and networking opportunities to Latino attorneys across the country.

Gonzalez Knavel is currently the co-chair of the Health Care Compliance and Operations Work Group and a member the Strategy Working Group. She also helped establish and previously served as the chair of the Foley Hispanic Affinity Group and now serves as an ambassador to new incoming diverse associates.

Quarles & Brady LLP announces that Eric W. Matzke has joined the firm’s Milwaukee office as an attorney in the Product Liability Group.

Matzke earned his law degree, magna cum laude, from Marquette University Law School. Prior to joining Quarles & Brady, he served as a law clerk at Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis, Missouri.
