Do you love the convenience of an online telephone directory search, but miss the actual phonebook? Well, AT&T offers the Real Pages Live. The Real Pages is a searchable .pdf of the yellow and white pages for several states. (Currently 21 states are available including Wisconsin). AT&T promotes the site as a resource with the “exact ‘look and feel’ of our printed directory.” It even has fingers “doing the walking” and makes a sound as a page is turning.

Just put in your search terms and identify the location. Search terms can be a person’s name, a specific business, a category, or general keywords. A list of telephone directories available to search will appear. For example, a search of “motorcycle” in West Bend, WI produced two options – 2010-2011 September Milwaukee Four-County phonebook or the 2010-2011 January Washington County phonebook. After the selected phonebook appears, all the categories that matched “motorcycle” are found on the left hand side of the page. Search terms are highlighted in green to quickly locate the information.

Pages can be printed. Users can also browse the book by selecting the “next” or “previous” buttons. A nice feature to the website is the ability to add notes to specific pages.

The yellow pages contain all the advertisements, pictures, and enhancements found in the hard copy version of the phonebook. To use the residential white pages, just click on the “residence” tab found in the upper right hand corner. Users can also choose to search the government section, the area guide pages, or the coupons. AT&T also offers the ability to download any directory or order a CD-Rom.
