Danielle Bergner, who represents the Redevelopment Authority as an assistant city attorney, describes herself as “a municipal attorney with a more specialized background in real estate.” Not surprising given that she has been a licensed real estate professional since she was 21.

While obtaining her bachelor’s degree in economics at UW-Milwaukee, Bergner worked as a real estate broker part time. She also did that work full time for six months before going to law school at Marquette University.

Now she helps the Redevelopment Authority as it acquires, sells, and redevelops blighted or underused properties in the city.

“I assist the authority in structuring their sale and purchase transactions,” Bergner says. “I also assist them in a whole range of real estate issues.”

Those efforts include helping the authority manage its real estate interests along the North Harbor Tract, home to the Summerfest grounds, Discovery World, and the Milwaukee Public Art Museum. She also is the point person for working with the Stadium District and the Milwaukee Brewers on easement and storm water issues regarding city property adjacent to Miller Park.
