Mosquito Activity – Moderate

I was on Weather.com checking the weather in Madison, when I stumbled upon their “Mosquito Activity Forecast.” So, of course I had to check it out. You enter in a city or zip code and it will provide a breakdown (by 2 hour segments) of how bad the mosquito population will be in the area. Hint: Unbearable if you live out by me!! It also provides a quick update of the current weather conditions.

I had to do some additional investigating. EVERY city I put in from Miami to Anchorage to Bangor to Denver all showed “Moderate” for the mosquito level. The “hourly” levels did, however, change significantly for each city. For example, at 9 pm this evening the mosquito activity will be “very high” in Miami and a bit below “moderate” for Bangor.

This project is obviously sponsored by Weather.com. I found news stories talking about it dating back to 2004. And, most recently, there was an article on JSonline.
