EPA and the BP Oil Spill

It appears that BP has capped the well. However, there is still much to do in the Gulf. Researchers will be looking at environmental information pertaining to the spill for quite a while. The Environmental Protection Agency has a dedicated website responding to the BP Spill. The site links to discussion on specific topics including air, sediment, water, and waste management. Selecting an individual topic (e.g. air) will take the researcher to a new webpage containing various data reports, maps, plans and guidance documents. The site also provides a link to Congressional Testimony and a chronology of press releases.

Another website, RestoreTheGulf.gov, contains less technical data and more general information. The site includes news and some very informative fact sheets. It also outlines the claims process and provides disaster assistance information. BP also has a dedicated webpage to assist in understanding the events taking place.
