On May 11th, the Department of Labor announced the release of a new tool to help explain the rights and responsibilities in union officer elections. According the press release, the Union Elections Advisor is designed to help “help millions of union members, union officers, union election committees and candidates in union elections better understand their rights and responsibilities under the Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act.” This website is part of the DOL’s “elaws” collection of interactive sites to assist employers and employees understand the major labor laws.
The Union Elections Advisor takes the user through a variety of screens, each asking specific questions, in order to provide the most comprehensive answer. The advisor includes a glossary and access to relevant publications.
