Last week, Google announced that they are “launch[ing] a search feature that helps you easily find new websites that are similar to the ones with which you’re already familiar.” This feature has actually been available, but as Google puts it, was not “too visible.” It is a pretty simple concept. The user puts a search into Google (say…your law firm). From the results page, locate the website of interest and look for the “Similar” link found next to the “Cached” link. Or, scroll down to the bottom of the page for a list of similar websites.
As a test, I searched Dairy Queen. The similar sites Google provided included Baskin Robbins, Cold Stone Creamery, and Ben & Jerry’s. For more information, see the Google Blog post.
