  1. J.B. Van Hollen shouldn’t defend the state. Committed couples, gay or straight need to have a real attorney, one who believes in defending the civil rights of people who want to enter into a civil commitment, to have the ability to protect themselves from financial hardship due to a long illness or death of a partner. Not having rights is like being blindsided with divorce papers, and having someone steal everything from you that you shared. You have no rights of surviorship. The family that comes out of the woodwork does…
    How selfish must you be???

  2. LGBT families deserve to have an attorney who actually believes in the value of our commitments and our families. Disappointing? Yes, but not shocking.

  3. I’m a mom with two kids, one straight and one gay. I would like to believe that both my children and everyone’s children are entitled to equal rights in the State of Wisconsin. While Mr. Van Hollen may not believe my son deserves equality, he will find that most Wisconsinites do. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to voice an opinion.

  4. Van Hollen’s duty as AG is to defend the law, just as the US Justice Department in Pres. Obama’s term has to defend in court the prior administration’s detention policies (with which I disagree). It shows no respect for the office. However, I want an attorney who will support civil rights and fight to uphold the law. Van Hollen is not that attorney.
