When conducting research regarding municipal issues, the Wisconsin League of Municipalities’ website is a place you may want to stop. The site offers a variety of legal comments written by their staff attorneys. A general subject index can be found on the “Captions” page. Topics range from powers of municipalities to zoning to compatibility of offices. A link will be provided to the entire document if it is available online. However, even the brief summaries to their opinions (available on CD) often include relevant case law and statutory references.
The site includes several other features that may be of assistance. For example, it maintains a nice selection of ordinances on various issues to use as samples. There is also a link to the 2008 governing body salary data, legislative summaries and past conference materials.
