The law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced that Steven J. Berryman, a partner with the firm, has been named chair of the firm’s Commercial Litigation practice for the Milwaukee office.

In his practice, Berryman handles business litigation in trial and appellate courts throughout the country, including claims involving the theft of company information and trade secrets, antitrust, and unfair competition, as well as professional negligence matters.

He earned a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.

The firm also announced that it has been awarded the Spirit of Diversity award by the Milwaukee Urban League. The Spirit of Diversity award recognizes the firm for its commitment to enhancing the quality of life in the Milwaukee community and making diversity an integral part of the workplace.

The firm was honored at the Milwaukee Urban League’s 49th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon in November.

DeWitt Ross & Stevens announced the addition of George D. Mistrioty to the Litigation, Business, Real Estate and Family Law groups in our Brookfield, Wisconsin office.

Mistrioty’s practice is a broad range of areas representing businesses, municipalities and individuals in all phases of litigation and negotiation. He received his J.D. degree from Marquette University.

The firm also announced the addition of Shawn M. Govern to the Litigation, Business and Real Estate groups. Govern joins the firm as a partner in our Brookfield office.

Govern focuses his practice primarily on representing businesses (family owned, as well as, large companies), banks, real estate developers, franchisees and corporate clients.

He received his J.D. degree from Marquette University Law School.

Kevin M. Scott has joined the Litigation and Business practice groups in the Brookfield office.

Scott’s practice will focus primarily on representing individuals and small to medium-sized businesses in a variety of matters involving litigation, estate planning, family law, personal injury, and employment matters. He received his J.D. degree from University of Wisconsin Law School.

Marc J. Adesso has joined the firm as a Paralegal to Sandy Swartzberg, Attorney at Law, in Brookfield.

Adesso will focus on family-owned enterprises, mergers and acquisitions, business structures, and business agreements of all kinds.

Adesso is pursuing his J.D. at Marquette University, with an anticipated graduation date of late 2010.

Carrie May Poniewaz, Florida State, 2008, has joined the firm of Otjen, Van Ert & Weir, S.C. Poniewaz will be concentrating primarily in the area of workers’ compensation defense.

The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn announced the addition of Kristine S. Cherek to the Real Estate Practice Group in the firm’s Milwaukee office. Her practice will focus on representing clients in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions. Cherek received her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren's General Counsel, Francis W. Deisinger, has been named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). The Fellows of the ABF is an honorary organization of attorneys, judges and law professors whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of their communities and to the highest principles of the legal profession.

Deisinger, a shareholder in Reinhart's Litigation Practice, has more than 26 years of experience not only as a successful trial lawyer, but also as a creative negotiator and advisor able to design effective and practical solutions for his clients.
