Looking for NAICS (North American Industry Classification System) and SIC (Standard Industrial Classification) codes? A standard stop for SIC codes is OSHA’s search system or manual. The Census maintains a keyword search engine for both 2007 and 2002 NAICS codes. They also include a link to relevant Federal Register notices.
A nice website to search both, however, is the NAICS Association Code Search. As expected, a search by SIC code will produce the corresponding NAICS code. Beyond the typical code search, the site also permits keyword searches. This site has other notable features that include the ability to “drill down” from main industry categories and identifying the number of business for each code. Selecting a specific code takes the researcher to a brief summary, the listing of 2007, 2002 and 1997 (if applicable) numbers, cross- reference information, and census data.
