Boyle Fredrickson announced the addition of Michael J. McGovern as the firm's newest attorney.

McGovern joins Boyle Fredrickson after many years of intellectual property law practice with Quarles & Brady. McGovern has held positions with the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association and locally with the Plan Commission for the Village of Shorewood.

McGovern received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

David J. McCormick has been promoted to shareholder at Previant, Goldberg, Uelmen, Gratz, Miller & Brueggeman, S.C., located in Milwaukee. McCormick continues to concentrate in plaintiff's personal injury and worker's compensation matters.

The law firm of Godfrey & Kahn, S.C. announced the election of five new shareholders. They include:

Milwaukee Office: Todd M. Cleary, Tax & Employee Benefits; Michael D. Huitink, Litigation; Madison Office: Jeffrey J. Femrite, Real Estate; Steven A. Heinzen, Litigation; Josh Johanningmeier, Litigation.

The Madison law firm, Gingras, Cates & Luebke, announced that Heath P. Straka has recently been named partner at the firm.

Straka’s practice focuses on areas of Medical Malpractice, Civil Rights, Personal Injury and Legal Malpractice. Straka is also fluent in Spanish, and practices in both state and federal courts. He received his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.

Eric J. Pagels, U.W. 2007, cum laude, has joined the firm of Fox, O’Neill & Shannon, S.C. in Milwaukee. He will practice in areas of business, real estate and tax law.

The Wisconsin Academy of Trial Lawyers (the Academy) announced its members voted unanimously to change the name of the organization to the Wisconsin Association for Justice (WAJ) at the annual meeting on Nov. 30, 2007 in Milwaukee.

The Academy also held new officer elections and installed 33 members of the Board of Director. The newly elected officers include: President: Wausau attorney, Christine Bremer Muggli; President-Elect: Brookfield attorney, Mark L. Thomsen; Vice President: Salem attorney, Paul Gagliardi; Secretary: Milwaukee attorney, J. Michael End; Treasurer: Green Bay attorney, Edward Vopal.
