ImageDaniel W. Hildebrand, a senior litigator and appellate practitioner at DeWitt Ross & Stevens S.C. in Madison, died Dec. 31, 2007 following a long illness. Hildebrand, a former State Bar president, was actively involved in matters relating to attorneys. He served as chairman of the Ethics 2000 Committee, which drafted changes to the Rules of Profes-sional Responsibility. The state Supreme Court adopted a version of those rules, which took effect last year. Long-time friend and colleague Jack DeWitt described Hildebrand as “a fine legal scholar” who was “blessed with good judgment and common sense.” In 2004, Wisconsin Law Journal recognized Hildebrand as a Leader in the Law. A funeral Mass was held for him Jan. 4.
