Unsung Heroes make important contributions

ImageFor the second year in a row, we’re delighted to honor all of the amazing people who work hard behind the scenes and contribute immensely to the operation of our courts and law firms throughout the state.

“Lawyers and judges in Wisconsin do terrific work, but where would they be without the members of their support staff who quietly make it all happen?”

That question was the catalyst for our first-ever Unsung Heroes program, held last year. And, due to overwhelming response, I’m pleased to announce it will be an annual event.

These folks — paralegals, legal secretaries, law librarians, firm administrators, court clerks — deserve to be recognized for the valuable contributions they make. These “Unsung Heroes” of Wisconsin’s legal community, through their daily efforts, work to ensure the success of the justice system.

We hope you enjoy reading and learning about our 61 honorees and award winners as much as we did. Each honoree, nominated by a colleague, is a testament to the commitment and dedication it takes to get the job done right. They’re the ones who make things happen. And this is our chance to thank them.

All of the nominations were judged by a panel, which had the tough task of choosing an award winner in each category. We recognized all of honorees at a special lunch event at the Italian Community Center on Nov. 16.

Special thanks go out to those judges — Sandy McGee on behalf of the Wisconsin Association of Legal Administrators, Laura LaRose for the Law Librarians Association of Wisconsin, Jane Appleby of the Association for Women Lawyers and John Goudie for the Paralegal Association of Wisconsin. They all worked with Managing Editor Tony Anderson to review the nominations and select our award winners.

Please join me in congratulating the Unsung Heroes of Wisconsin’s legal community.
Sincerely,

Ann Richmond, Publisher
