10th Judicial District Court Administrator, Wisconsin Supreme Court

“I have worked with Gregg Moore for approximately 20 years. He is absolutely indispensable … he is one of the finest human beings that I have every met. His knowledge of the courts’ technical support system is unmatched. He is known statewide (and nationally, for that matter) for his ability to teach all levels of court personnel regarding their tech responsibilities He has great ability to develop protocols and working documents for his Chief Judge on a moment’s notice,” writes Hon. Benjamin D. Proctor, Chief Judge, Wisconsin Supreme Court, 10th Judicial District. Coordinating court activities in the state’s geographically largest judicial district brings some unique challenges. Gregg Moore, the 10th District administrator, has faced those challenges for the past 24 years. So has his car as he has stayed in touch with courts spread throughout a district that covers 23 percent of the state. “There’s a lot of distance,” Moore said. “I have made an effort over the years to travel enough in the district to have the personal relationships, so that when I do most of the work by phone and now e-mail … I have a relationship with the clerks and the judges and the court staff. So I’ve put on a few miles over the years.”

In addition to conducting numerous training and technical assistance projects for court staff and judges throughout his district, Moore has been involved with a number of statewide projects. He was appointed to the initial steering committee that developed the Consolidated Court Automation Programs (CCAP) and has served on the committee since.

Moore also has been very active in helping the courts address the growing issue of pro se litigants. “(We’re) trying to respond to the increasing number of folks coming to court without attorneys,” he said, while also being sensitive to attorney’s concerns and not wanting to encourage people to avoid legal counsel.

Noonan, Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
