Wisconsin’s legal community welcomed 142 new attorneys from the University of Wisconsin Law School. (Center) Edward J. Evans of Brookfield was among the recent graduates sworn in at the Wisconsin Supreme Court on June 19. (Bottom) Justice Ann Walsh Bradley congratulates Stephanie A. Czukas of Milwaukee. (Top) Jamie Hickey-Mendoza of Brooklyn, N.Y., officially becomes an attorney when he signs the state’s roll of attorneys. Justice N. Patrick Crooks addressed the new attorneys and told them that each step of every case they take is not theirs, but their clients’. He also reminded the admittees that “there is more to being a lawyer, than simply being named one.” But that is where the journey began. After being sworn in, each new lawyer etched their names into the roll of attorneys book at The Madison Club. Said Chief Justice Shirley S. Abrahamson, “you are signing on a blank page, which can be filled with whatever you want your career to entail.”
