Anthony Murphy appeals the judgment, entered after a jury trial, convicting him of aggravated battery, while armed with a dangerous weapon, causing great bodily harm, and resisting an officer. Murphy argues that the trial court erroneously exercised its discretion in prohibiting him from exploring with the victim prior instances of her untruthfulness, and in failing to engage him in a colloquy to determine whether he knowingly, intelligently and voluntarily gave up his constitutional right to testify in his own defense.
