Posthumously conceived kids not entitled to benefits, rules US high court (access required)

The Social Security Administration reasonably interpreted federal law in determining that only children supported by a deceased wage earner in his or her lifetime are entitled to Social Security benefits, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled.

The U.S. Supreme Court will decide whether children who are conceived after the death of a biological parent are eligible for Social Security survivor benefits when state law denies them the right to an inheritance.
